With a Twist

Hello Crafty Friends I completed the course on "With a Twist" with lots of ideas on how to add a twist to card creations. One idea was using unexpected color combinations. I wanted to use the dahlia die set for this creation. I found a picture online of a beautiful and unusual dahlia and wanted to use this color combination reflected in my card. See picture below and then my interpretation:  Materials: Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Dahlia April Heather Die Set Altenew Honeycomb Daisies Cover Die Altenew Scripted Sentiments Die Set

Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Hello Crafty friends!! I am excited to make a card after taking the Altenew "Beyond Basic Backgrounds" class. The class had many neat ideas on how to create original backgrounds. I wanted to make my own twist on this one. I have some plates at home with a background which was an inspiration for this card.  For this card I die cut the foilage and decided where I would place these. I used the negative space from the die cuts as a stencil. I used distress inks with the makeshift stencil to color leaves and flowers here and there.   Materials: Altenew Scripted Sentiments Die Set Altenew Flowing Foilage Die Check me out on instagram: @janelle.paper.sparkles

Mood Inspired

Hello Crafty friends!! I am so excited to pass the level 1 classes and test with Altenew! I am now working through courses on the level II. I was inspired by the "In the Mood to Color Class". I thought about what I do in my everyday life, which is to support people struggling with mental health. I created a card thinking of that using the following colors: Blue: Tranquility Pink: Caring Yellow: Optimism  For this card I die cut the tulips and used Distress Inks to color the flower and leaves. Then I die cut the frilly frame and used the flowers to adorn the frame. I used a cover plate to create the background and there placed the die and flowers. Then I added the sentiment and some baubles. For this card I wanted convey maintaining serenity, care and a bit of hopefulness peeking through.  Materials:   Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Tulip Full Bloom Layering Die Set Altenew - Cutting Dies - Frilly Frame Die Altenew Scripted Sentiments Die Set Waffle Flower Sweet Plaid Cover Die ...

All About Layering 4

Hello Crafty friends! This is my last class for the level 1 AECP. It's been a while I know! For this card  I first used the tulips from the  Craft a Tulip and each petal I shaded with the Altenew inks Woodland escape dye set .  I then inked the flower center and stamen to pieced these together.   I inked the stem and leaves with distress inks bundled sage and shabby shutters.  I die cut the embellished star die using glittered cardstock I then used black cardstock to trace the mandala die and cut this to adhere this behind the glittered mandala Then I used the exquisite marble foil plate  to foil gold onto the background Lastly, I made to layers of the tiny sentiment wishing die , one in black and another in gold. I used the gold behind the black to add a bit of dimensional layering and a pop of color.
